Did you look at the diagrams in the warrior supplement? I think they represent the newer models. Also check rickstator and rmstators websites I was told they have the specs.

 

Those sites did not help, I do not understand why the haynes manual is describing wires that are different, does anyone have a different manual like clymer?

Thank you, but I am still confused as I do not have these wires. I took the whole side off and I can see my source coil, pickup coil, and magneto. I can see that these are red and white, green and brown, and three white wires. Not the color shown. I took it off to follow wires and just tested them, according to these specs, all parts are bad. I think this is unlikely and I wish I understood why the book says wire colors that are not there. Usually they are ok about mentioning differences between years...

 

Maybe it is an aftermarket stator assembly and they didn't use the same color combo on the wires??

I have a stator assembly that the colors say is a 1996. It all tests within spec except the pickup coil. It shows it is supposed to read 170-209 and it reads 215. Anyway I had it listed on E-Bay and someone bought it then backed out. Even though the pickup coil comes in the harness as an assembly, I see that there are aftermarket pickup coils sold on E-Bay. That said, I think the questionable pickup coil on mine could be changed out. If you would be interested in it, make me an offer. I had it listed at $50 OBO.

 

ok, from research, it appears that 98-01 has the type of plugs on the stator I am talking about. If I was using incorrect names before, I am talking about the stator which comes with pickup coil and source coil when buying new, these are very expensive so I need to find a cheap one if I can be sure they are the problem.

 

If you go to the technical tab of Ricky Stators site Stator Specs you will see it gives you specs. Now they don't just give it all to you in an obvious package you have to work for it a little, looking in their catalog, Warrior Stator Shows that the warrior stators are RS200W6 A through D.

Using those part numbers in the specifications should work, look at the attached picture, you should also be able to identify A, B, C, or D by the plugs.

 

Why would I want to buy any coil that is not in spec? I know what my specs are supposed to be, just don't understand why the manual does not mention my plugs which are on 98-01 models. Thanks

 

Sorry man I just had the thing here and thought I'd offer it. If it was the right setup for my 02, I would keep it and put an aftermarket pickup coil in it and use it in a heartbeat.

 

I have 2 books that say different things, that may be in spec according to the one book, what kind of plugs do they have?

I looked in the service manual and it shows the spec as 180-220 on the pickup coil, so according to that it would be in spec. I just checked all the ohms and here is what they show:

yellow to blue (pickup coil)=215 Clymer says 171-209 service manual says 180-220

red to green/white (source coil)=299 Clymer says 270-330 as does service manual

any of the three white to each other (charging coil)=.8 Clymer says .70-.86 as does the service manual.

I assume you are continental US? If so I will take $50 for it including shipping. I don't do anything outside the US.

 

By the way the cover it is attached to in the picture is broken at one bolt boss to the inside. I think it got bumped when the guy shipped the engine to the previous owner. I just decided to leave the stator attached to it to protect it in shipping.

 

I wish that was my kind of plug, I am wondering if you could splice the wires and be alright, even so I think I can buy one for 70 with right plug, I am thinking...

 

My buddy at the dealer told me to clip and rewire it to my plugs, but I would be concerned about moisture getting in the splice. I imagine if a guy soldered and heat shrunk the connection it would be ok. Just not a risk I was willing to take.
