I made reservations at a motel in WV for a trip to ride the Hatfield McCoy Trails. I asked the person taking the reservations about the security. She said that last year they had some trouble with quad theft. She said that if I back my trailer against the building that it shouldn't be a problem. Well I do have full coverage insurance on my quad but I would be pretty pissed if I drove 12 hours to ride and my quad got stolen. I will be chaining the quads to the trailer and I told her I would be bringing my 12 gauge just in case I have to administer a little NY justice to the WV locals. I sure hope I don't have to. It is too bad. People are trying to do something good for the sport. These trails are attracting people and money from all over the east coast and if quad theft becomes a problem then it could make the trails system go away. So if your taking a trip to WV you have been warned!!! Watch your quad.

I hate to admit it, but yes, quad theft is very possile in West Virginia atthe Hatfeild-McCoy trails right now. Actually, it is a problem throughout WV. People are really starting to crack down on the theifs now though. Don't let these theifs keep you guys from enjoying the scenery of Southern WV though! Just b smart and Chain your qaud, trailor, and eveything up. And yes, a 12 gauge doesn't hurt either! :)

The best thing to do if your quad does get stolen is to put the word out ASAP. The local's wil definately help out!

I have been to WV a couple times without a problem, but we do take some precautions.

We always chain the quads to the trailer, and the trailer to the truck frame with some big chains and locks. If they really want it they can have it, but were not gonna make it super easy.

ive almost had my blaster stolen....it was about 2am and i heard something outfront. the blaster is chhained to a tree but bolt cutters would make short work of that. i head to the window with my friends gas mp5 airsoft gun (shoots plastic balls. not lethal but shoots fast enough to break the skin and make u think twice. and looks very intiminading) i get to the winow and crqack it open enough to see whats going on. i look out the window and hit the porch lights just in time to see a dog cocking his leg to piss on my tire. one shot with the gun and he nevertouched the blaster again...hehe

on a more serious note...we were riding and had left my bros yz in the yama-dealers parkinglot. as we came back from riding to get a drink we see 3 teenage guys walking towards the yz looking very suspicious. as soon as i cracked the throttle on the banshee they saw us and ran for their truck and left in a cloud of dust. its pretty sad what ppl will do to get a few free bucks.

i have insurance on all my quads. my banshee and warrior is about 60$ a year. as long as they are in the garage or chained to the trailer even if they have the key in them they are insured. i would higghly reccomend insurance. i mean u dont drive ur 600$ car without it so why would u drive ur new $6k toy without it?

Theft of ATV's is a very big problem. My buddy had his Warrior stolen and it was sitting right in front of his house. It was during the day and he was home, so not sure how the heck they did it. But most of the people that do it know what they are doing and doesn't take them long to grab it. We need stiffer laws on punishing these people.
