I just picked up a 2001 Yamaha Warrior 350, its fast and i love it but there seems to be some pretty interesting things going on with the reverse, and its 100% not possible to find neutral while it is running at a dead stop but i can find it while its rolling..? first problem im not liking the most is reverse to use it i have to turn off the engine and then it works fine but while running it will break your hand and still wont go, and sometimes it will co-operate but it decides it wants to make this awfull grinding and scratching sound from the trans! does anyone know how to fix these problems? i was told by my brother and a buddy of mine to adjust the clutch but i haven't gotten around to doing so just yet but it seems to be something else like the reverse linkage...? can ANYONE PLEASE HELP?????? :s96:
Neutral is a bitch to find on any warrior, I always just kick mine into reverse before I come to a complete stop. As for the reverse, sounds to me like something in the shift linkage. Idk for sure in that one.
i guess I will have to cope with it. I have another question however. While im riding and im going maybe 5th gear and i let off the gas it backfires and pops like crazy is that bad or do they all do that?
check your air fuel mixture for the backfiring . and as for the reverse thing , it could be that you have a slightly bent shift fork in your transmission . or like it was said before it could be your shift linkage that needs adjustment
Hello, I have an 02 warrior and my reverse does the same exact thing if I shut it off then it moves fine, but what I've been doing is finding neutral and pushing down on the reverse lever and then pulling up with a Lil force and seems to work just fine
