Do a compression check, your piston rings may be losing their seal causing you to have to be on the pipe all the time, and fouling plugs, if your compression is in the range of 130-140psi, your rings are in good shape, next move on to the needle clip of the carb, take the top of the carb off and check what position the clip is in, the needle affect 1/4-3/4 of your throttle range, if it is too rich it will cause poor acceceration down low and plug fouling.
