So I went to check my valves the other day because they sounded like they needed adjusting and the intake valves locking nut was no where to be found mind you I know I put one on it.... the only place it could go is down into the case right??? Flash forward I’m out riding and I’m in 3rd and I want to down shift it but the lever will not budge downward at all and only up a little of the way... so could it be that nut lodged somewhere it shouldn’t be? Regardless wether it’s that or maybe a bent shifting fork what tools would I need to get into there

a flywheel puller is the only special tool you have to have. a case separator and crank press are nice but you dont need them. if you dont use a separator make sure you do not pry on the mating surfaces. before you pull the motor and split the cases remove the jug and head and go down through the timing chain hole with a flexible magnet. you might get lucky
