I bought a 1997 Yamaha Warrior 350 a couple weeks ago for a good deal, it didn’t run but the owner said it was probably the timing chain and tensioners, he said he heard the chain slapping when it ran. I’ve replaced one of the guides and tensioners, which tightened the chain back up, but the timing is off. So now I’m here, after watching a few videos on setting my timing and trying to do so myself I’ve consulted you. When I got into my timing cover trying to move the chain and cam gear to line up with top-dead center, the cam gear doesn’t turn counter-clockwise (which I assume would loosen it) it instead makes a clicking noise and skips the way while i try to loosen it, and yes I held the flywheel in place while performing this. Is a cam gear suppose to do that?
