Me and my friend want to get into paintballing.

What are some good, cheap guns?

I do NOT want a Tippmann 98 custom, EVERYONE in my school has one, and I don't want to be like everyone else.

I don't really want the A-5 either, too expensive for a first gun.

I want something right around 100$.

My friend had a Spyder Imagine and I really liked it. Comfortable, pretty powerful, and it shot pretty far. Plus it was automatic. He also had a Spyder Aggressor I think it was, also pretty nice.

Any suggestions?

Spyders are nice. I had one for my first gun but bought a tippman98c but modded it a little. They're probably the best beginner gun you can get. My brother had the A5 and it was nice too. I'd suggest either but you don't want them. I would just try them out. Any simple gun would be good for you.

trust me and get an imagine for a beginner gun....

there are so many aftermarket options for it, it is almost unbeliveable...

bolts, triggers, boards, eyes, LPs, milling, feedneck, asa, va, etc.

i've been in the game for a while imagine from spyder IS the best beginner gun

try www.pbnation.com biggest pb forum on the net... go to classifides and im sure you'll be able to find one or start a WTB thread

but the tipman is popular for a reason....just like the hmf....best bang for the buck, great startor gun
I agree. The tippmann is a great gun for the money. very reliable and easily custimized. Why miss out on something because you want to stand out? Thats what i thougth at first, but then i bought my 98Custom, put a response trigger and x-chamber on it along with a new paintjob, and now it stands out and is alot better overall. everyone has their own opinion but i would look at the options and costs instead of worrying about who has what gun and crap like that.

If you are seriously planning on getting into it alot I would not go for a cheap gun. When I started I had a tippmann98, that only lasted a little bit. Yes they are a greate gun, very simple and easy to take apart for cleaning or whatever. But after a bit I wanted a better gun right away. I ended up with a 03 autococker. Still needed more so I put a front reg, bottom, reg, halo b hopper, freak barrel, bolt, and a nitrogen tank. Then noone really ever played anymore so I sold it all.

So if you think it may just be a fad or u may not want to stay in it dont buy an expensive gun. If you want to go all out and play forever I would just go with a good gun.

just my 2 cents

True, true.

I think I can get the 98 custom for like 170$. The A-5 is almost 300$ though lol.

I'm not going to order anything online, so it's basically the best thing I can find and afford at my local sporting goods store.

I have a Spyder Victor, cheap $70 gun. I kind of got out of paintball though. It was so expensive, like 52 bucks for 2000 balls. Me and my freinds use airsoft guns now, I think there better IMO, not as powerful but just as fun and cheaper, 10 dollars gets you 10000 rounds.

Im not sure if you can get an Imagine for around 100$. I have one as well and payed close to 200 for a package. Great gun though. You should get a 98, there great guns for a beginner and even for a more advanced player. I was just accepted into a team and there amazing players, all with 98's and A5's. Get a flatline barrel and a 20 oz. and no one will mess with you.

Diablo Wrath for Speedball.
Tippmann for woods.
The diablo wrath is actually a pretty decent gun, its alot better than any spyder you can buy..

Are you playing speedball or woods, because you don't want a tippman for speedball for sure.

For woods/rec ball get a automag with LX, I've gone through everything. Started playing outlaw with a spyder upgraded the shit outta that, sold it, went to an impulse for speedball. When speedball wasnt fun, I started back up with woods ball. Chewed through 2 cases of paint a day... quickly sold the imp. Bought an automag with level X, nice barrel, and hpa (dont really need it but I play in 30 to 40 degree temps sometimes). Best gun ever. I learned how to place my shots and not spray and pray. Unless your playing speedball you do not need an electro. Automags.org is a good place to look for info and used guns.

spyders are nice guns for beginners but once you get into it there are a lot to choose from. i got a tippman A-5 those are really nice guns. I also have a bob long shocktech intimidator gun to. my last gun is a raven primal paintball gun. these are really nice guns when you start to get really into it.

I agree. I had a 98C as my second gun. I loved it. I put the Flatline Barrel on it and I could shoot twice as far and straight as an arrow compared to my friends. Its easy as pie to take apart, clean, and oil. Tippmann has tons of extras for it, and there are an endless supply of aftermarket support for this gun. Its by far, the most reliable gun I have ever used in my experience. I had mine for 4 years, played almost every weekend, and never had to replace any single part...not even an internal o-ring.

Who cares if you have the same gun as anyone else. Give it a killer paint job and a few mods, and you will have one helluva marker

You don't want to buy a flashy looking gun either if you're playing in the woods. I used to play with a few kids that went out and bought crappy guns but wanted them because they had chrome parts and all that. You could spot them from a mile away. But I agree about the tippmann being very reliable. I never had to replace anything on mine. I did upgrade it tho a bit. Very simple to take apart also.
