I'm SURE that this has been done before .. But since then there have been new tires on the market and people have tried new ones since the last time.

This is for all the people lookin' to buy or replace their paddles for the new season. Input would be greatly appreciated, I myself am lookin' to buy a set soon, and I'm sure that many others out there have the same question.

1. What Type of paddle do you Currently run? (Name and straight or V-patern)
2. What Size (front and rear) are you currently running?
3. How many paddles are you running per tire (6,7,8,9)?
4. Have you run any other paddles, if so, what kind. Which did you like best?

Based on your experience:
5. What Paddles do you recomend for a STOCK Raptor?
6. What Paddles do you recomend for a MODIFIED Raptor?
7. Which Paddles would you NOT recomend

#1 Skat track Extream
#2 20x11x10
#3 8 paddle
#4 I have ran lots of diffrent paddles and the next ones I get will be ITP Sandstars 20x10x10 they hook great and are good for playing
#5 sandstars
#6 same
#7 any thing that isnt skat, skates, sharks,or stars
I would recommend you buy a set of ITP Sand Stars on 10" wheels. I have owned Haulers, Gecko's, Shark Fins etc.... nothing compares to the Sand Stars with the Haulers in a close second.

Here is a picture of the Sand Stars on the Raptor.
The wheels need polishing I know... already been told that.

I agree witht he moose. I love my scat trak haulers. I have run both 8 and 10 paddles. I like the 8 paddle tires better.
1. What Type of paddle do you Currently run?

Skat Trak Extreme Haulers & ITP Sandstar Fronts

2. What Size (front and rear) are you currently running?

Front 21x7?x10, Rear 20x11x10

3. How many paddles are you running per tire (6,7,8,9)?

10 paddle (a little too much paddle)

4. Have you run any other paddles, if so, what kind. Which did you like best?

I've ran sand stars, sand skates, paddlemasters, and kings paddle. Kings is the best of these by far, then sand star v paddles.

Based on your experience:

21" 8 paddle hauler. Unfortunately, these are only availible on an 8" wheel. In leiu of that, a 22" hauler or extreme hauler on 10".

6. What Paddles do you recomend for a MODIFIED Raptor?

22" extremes w/ 9 paddle for a mild build, 10 paddles for a big build.

7. Which Paddles would you NOT recomend

Roosters, Geckos, paddle masters

What is so bad about Geckos?
Own a set, then own a set of good molded paddles and you will know. Let alone comparing them to a set of haulers.

I own a set of Geckos right now, and my dad has a set of stars on his YFZ, I do not see any differences. I know haulers will give you some killer dig for drags, but what about other types of duning? There has to be a reason one of the most trusted tire company went with a v blade instead of a straight blade when designing thier first set of sand paddles.

I mean, if you are not running a mighly moded bike where traction is a serious issue is there that much of a difference?
I have seen a few articles mentioning "over paddled" meaning that there is to much traction so they gotta turn the paddle around.. can you over-paddle a raptor?

Yes you can.
On my piped Raptor 10 paddle Extreme Haulers launched great but pulled the engine down in higher gears.
The 8 paddles launched well & didn't pull down in the higher fears.
Don't they make Hauler's in a 9 paddle? I heard a lot of people ran 9 paddles but I don't see any posted yet.

So what's better? Sand Stars for playing, Haulers for draggin? Are the Haulers a good all around tire for messing around too?

I have 8 paddle Sand Devils now and they do ok, but I know I could do better.

I plan on getting Sand Stars or Haulers.
i run sand gheckos.... love um they are 20's ont he back and stockers ont he front
Correct me if I am wrong but a hauler is a excellent paddle for straight line racing but a V pattern paddle is better for sliding and racing around the dunes. If I were on a hill shooter and drag racing I would get the haulers they are light with awsome traction. but for riding the dunes and playing a round I would go with the sand stars or the skat traks edge's with a V grove pattern.
You can slide and play around on the haulers. They will powerslide too. Great hookup. I have ridden my buddies haulers and I have sandstars. Haulers are faster by about 1 quad in a heads up drag, but If I had to do it over, I would get the stars again. Look sweet and hook up great. Good all around tire and very durable.
I can slide & trail ride fine with my Extreme Haulers but.....
I also have extensive suspension mods (+1+2 a arms, wider rear end with 3" spacers & +4 swingarm)
They didn't slide near that well with a stock suspension.
are there any good paddles for hard terrian with sand, our pits are mixed so haven;t decided what tires i want . have holeshots rite now
Skat Trak is now selling some paddles that are very rugged looking. One of these, the Ripper is a very thick paddle, where as the Desert Storm and the Terrain Trak offer non traditional paddles and are supposed to be very durable on rough surfaces.

Check 'em out...

I saw those in my new rocky mountain atv catelog. They look as if they'd be heavy.
