i got my quad all apart right now and am thinking about installing some new parts. so far on my list i have .... clutch, L&A one way, hi-comp piston, cam, and a valve kit. i am debating on a port job and a new connecting rod while i am at it. i am looking to basically freshen the motor up and add a bit more power. Not really looking into a big bore kit just yet. I plan on riding it mainly on the local tracks, at the dunes and doing some friendly drag racing. Is there anything that anyone thinks i have left out or that i can do without through experience with their own raptor?????thanks

If you go into the motor to replace the rod, you are only a few hundred bucks away from a big bore. I think a new rod is cheap insurance but ran a high compression 686 without and didn't have any trouble. If on a budget, skip the porting and go with a less aggressive cam. Later, if you want more power, you can have the head ported and install a high rpm cam and programmable CDI. Or add nitrous.
