Ok I was having problems with my 2005 yfz so I ordered a new wiring harness from a 07 everything fit perfect just had to mount the rectifier but went to start it an it clicked an the start button started smoking an the spring melted into it
possibly a shorted starter solenoid. also I know there was some significant changes in 06 but if every thing plugged in seems like the harness should not be the issue.
possibly but I wonder if maybe you have water or bad winding in the starter it self and it is shorting. try leaving the wire in place but unhook it from the starter and see if you still blow the fuse. if it blows it is in the harness if not bad starter
The water makes since cause I washed it really good then these problems started but I figured after a month or so it should be dried out but it is kept inside a cool garage
if water got in the windings it would be hard to dry out for sure
