Excessive heat or inadequate warm-up procedures are a leading cause of engine failure in ATVs. To prevent these from being a problem, one must properly monitor the engine's temperature before and during the ride. Since most ATVs do not come equipped with a temperature gauge from the factory, Warp Drive Performance has made it possible for us to keep an eye on our liquid-cooled motors with the "Heatseeker" temperature gauge. The gauge kits for our Raptor and Banshee came with easy-to-follow instructions, along with 2 hose clamps. Installation overall is very simple, and the Raptor installation proved to be the easier of the two. The installation on the Banshee was slightly more involved simply because you have to remove one side of the gas tank plastic. Still not hard at all. The gauge face is protected with glass and is 1" in diameter. The overall color is white with blue (0-99 degrees), green (100-199 degrees), and red (200-220 degrees) colored zones. We like the colors because it makes it easier to tell if you are in your desired temperature range, instead of having to stare at it to see where the needle is exactly. The rest of the gauge is painted in black. The gauge is lightweight, and is well protected from damage. We liked the placement much more on the Raptor; just look down the side of your gas tank and it's right there. The one on the Banshee took a little more movement of your head since it is somewhat behind the gas tank plastic peeking through the vent, but is still not overly hard to see. We would love to see it moved somewhere to the top of the gas tank right under the handlebars for instance, but we are fairly pleased with the location as it is now. We like the Heatseeker temperature gauges. It's very nice to know when your motor is at operating temperature and ready to roll, and equally nice to know when you need to let it cool off a bit. You can't beat the "peace of mind" it gives you for the low price of $34.95. You can purchase Heatseeker temperature gauges for most liquid-cooled ATVs directly from Warp Drive Performance. | ![]() ![]() ![]() Quality: ![]() Performance: ![]() Installation: ![]() Value: ![]() Overall: ![]() Scale: 1=terrible, 2=poor, 3=fair, 4=very good, 5=excellent |
