Shark Racing's Swingarm Skid Plate

When our Banshee's OEM swingarm skid plate finally expired from its long, abuse-filled life, which we had patiently been waiting to occur, it was time to look for a tough, durable aluminum skidplate offered by the aftermarket. Even though our OEM unit suprisingly fought a long battle without ever completely self-destructing, aftermarket skid plates have always been a more logical choice for replacement due to the better price and increased strength they carry.

After hearing about all the great products at Shark Racing, we decided to give one of their aluminum skid plates a try and placed the order. In about a week we received the skid plate and immediately rushed out to the garage to install it. Their .190 aluminum skid plates look great, and plenty of proffesional welds on all the seams signify that these skid plates were built to take a beating, and come back for more. After removing the stock skid plate on the Banshee, we had the new Shark Racing unit bolted up in less than 10 minutes. All mounting holes lined up perfectly, and all clearances were exact. The skid plate does not come with new fastening hardware, and you don't really need it, but we noticed that new bolts that were just a hair longer might be a better option. The OEM bolts and nuts worked fine, but we would have liked to see just a tad more of the bolt sticking through the nut when tightened.

When riding with the new skid plate installed, there was no hint of vibration noise or any other problems. We did end up hitting some good sized rocks with the skid plate, but it took them in stride and left nothing more than a scratch or small gouge. So far we couldn't be happier with the results.
