If you've tried to remove the swingarm pivot bolt from your ATV, most likely to replace worn-out bearings, you understand how difficult it can be to remove sometimes, especially if it is an older ATV and the bolt has "seized" inside due to rust. Well, Shark Racing, the makers of some really great ATV products, now manufactures and sells stainless steel swingarm pivot bolts for the Yamaha Banshee along with some other models, which they claim to be a lot stronger than OEM bolts and will never rust. Sounds good to us! When we received our well-packaged stainless steel swingarm bolt, we noticed the top-notch quality right off the bat. The head of the bolt has a 5mm allen head broached in it which makes a nice, clean look according to Shark Racing, and the threads at the other end of the bolt retain the stock bolt dimensions (16mm x 1.5mm). Included with the bolt is a grade 8 flanged nut. The swingarm bolt feels a lot stronger, and after seeing our OEM unit after removal, it should have a much longer life, and hopefully will make removal easier in the future compared to our headache this time around. Installation of our new stainless steel swingarm bolt was easy as expected. This new swingarm bolt from Shark Racing seems like an obvious solution to avoid future problems, but is it worth the price? At $59.99, it will probably seem pretty expensive to most people at first, but if you had to buy a new OEM bolt and nut for your Banshee, it will cost you about $44. So for an additional $16 or so, we feel the Shark Racing stainless steel swingarm bolt is well worth the price to have a much more superior part.
