| The stock shifting mechanism on the Raptor can be troublesome, or just plain annoying for some riders due to the linkage system involved. For those looking to rid theirselves of the linkage, Pro Design has developed the Power Shifter, a good looking, solid aluminum shifter which bolts right up to the shifter shaft coming out of the motor, eliminating the entire linkage system. I received my Power Shifter from Rocky Mountain ATV, where it retails for $71.99. Eager to get it on the Raptor, I found the installation to be quite simple. If you have frame guards on your Raptor you might have to remove the one side that the shifter is on (like I had to in my case). Once this is done, remove the "C" clip that holds the stock linkage onto the foot peg. Then, remove the bolt that holds the shifter onto the transmission shaft. After you complete that, pull the stock shifter off of the shaft. Put the new shifter on the shaft, insert the new bolt, and tighten. That's all there is to it. I immediately noticed the more "exact" shifter characteristics. Neutral was much easier to find and shifting was pleasantly smoother. The one thing I noticed is that you have to pull up on the shifter a little more in between shifts. It's not a huge difference but for some this may be a problem. For me it wasn't. Overall, you can't go wrong with this shifter. -AFR383 | ![]() ![]() Quality: ![]() Performance: ![]() Installation: ![]() Value: ![]() Overall: ![]() Scale: 1=terrible, 2=poor, 3=fair, 4=very good, 5=excellent |
