Yamaha Announces 2011 YFZ450R and YFZ450X Sport ATVs
New Standard and Special Edition Models Shipping to Dealers This Fall
CYPRESS, Calif. – September 1, 2010 – Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., announced today its 2011 YFZ450R and YFZ450X sport ATVs, completing the industry’s strongest sport ATV line-up for the coming year. With superior power, comfort and handling, Yamaha’s high-revving YFZ450R and 450X are specifically designed for pure performance and get new color and graphics in 2011.
Both the YFZ450R and X have proven Yamaha performance and durability with long-travel adjustable suspension, a no-weld aluminum with steel hybrid frame, and a powerful fuel injected engine. These two ATVs have a lot in common, but their subtle differences have a major impact on their performance in different riding situations.
The YFZ450R is a motocross-ready ATV at 48.8 inches wide. It is also set up perfect for wide-open trails, desert terrain and sand dunes. The YFZ450X is tweaked to be a tight-trail machine at 46.1 inches wide and optimized suspension settings. Both machines have proven to be championship caliber and customer favorites.

Both Yamaha models have powerful 5-valve DOHC liquid cooled single cylinder 449cc engines. Yamaha’s electronic fuel injection features a 42mm Mikuni® throttle body, 12-hole Denso injector system and a Mitsubishi 32 bit ECU providing exceptional atomization of the fuel for maximum power, unrivaled throttle response and automatic altitude and temperature adjustment.
The superior suspension on both YFZ450R and X models comes from the 44mm KYB shocks in front that have Kashima coating for smooth operation and impact absorption. The 450R has 9.8 inches of wheel travel while the 450X has 9.4. In the back, the gravity-fed cast aluminum swingarm is matched to a fully adjustable 46mm KYB piggyback shock affording the rear wheels 11 inches of travel on both models.

I have ridden a lot of quads and there have been very few stock seats that I have liked. Some times the seats are too slippery, some times the foam is too firm or too soft. With that said usually one if the first things I change is the seat cover. The stock Raptor 700 seat was decent but I always found myself sliding around on the seat when I really got aggressive. I decided to give Quad Tech a shot, I had heard lots of good things about them so I wanted to see their product first hand. I gave them a call to talk about color choices. There are certain times they answer the phone for orders so if you can’t get the phone during the day consider ordering from their website. After they answered some questions I headed to their website and did my order online. The order and check out went pretty easy. One cool thing about Quad Tech is they will install your seat cover for free if you cover shipping both ways of your stock seat pan. That’s a great option for people who are nervous about destroying their brand new custom seat cover.
