Default Gushing gas

I have an 05 yfz 450. It has sat most of the winter. Today when I turned the fuel on it began flowing out of the lines from the carb. I turned it off and it stopped. I tapped on the carb and bounced the machine around (thinking it was the float stuck). Still nothing. I took the bottom off of the carb, but the float looks and moves fine. Not sure where to go from here.... Any help would be appreciated thanks alot

If the gas is flowing out of the over flow then its is the float. There may be dirt stuck in the needle seat or the float its self could be bad. Carefuly remove the float and needle and spray carb cleaner thruogh the needle seat and jets and then blow it out with compressed air. Fill a jar or can with gas and put the float in it and see if it floats or sinks some. That will let you know if th float is bad.

the float will move fine, but it is supposed to push a needle vlave shut, that is actually under the float, the needle valve is stuck in your case, and its not uncommon when a bike sits, take the carb bowl off, slide the tiny pin out from the floats and there will be a tiny wire that attaches the float to the needle valve, push on the needle valve, its about an inch long, with a rubber tip, and its about 1/4 inch around. dont spray carb cleaner or anything, it can harm the coating on the slide... just clean the needle with fresh gas, fill the tank with fresh gas, and go from there. if the needle valve sticks again, get a new one.
