Default Popping and Backfiring...

Whenever I either down shift and just let off the throttle after ripping on it for a little bit the four wheeler either backfires really loud or just a low constent popping coming from the exhaust. The jetting is totally stock and so is everything else on the wheeler. I just bought some jets I was gonna throw in 170 main and I was going to get a 45 pilot (where should I get that jet?) would that take care of the popping? If it isnt the jetting what else could this be? The fourwheeler runs mint otherwise! Also how can you start to tell if the engine needs some attention or some fine tuning?

the main jet should be alright with a 170 what is your elevation??
you can get a 45 from the dealership anytime your on the gas then close the throttle its going to backfire because it is only getting fuel from the pilot jet...now if its running and your shooting out flames your running to lean on the main

My elevation is 554 Ft. I am not shooting and flames or any thing like that just the popping when getting off the throttle. Should I go to a 45 pilot for the stock? also do I need to upgrade my exhaust and air filter?

yes^ like he said.... get the proflow filter with billet adapter plate, poke some 5/8 inch holes in your airbox lid find a nice slip on pipe HMF makes a decent one that comes with all the jets main and pilot
i cant remember if it came with a 45 or 48 but it will be good for 550ft where your at. im between sea level and 1300 most all of the time

Start with a 168 main and adjust from there.
