Default Painting quad plastics (Banshee)

Has anyone ever painted there own plastics????

what process did you use?

How did they turn out?

Are they chipping?

I know there has to be a totally different process because of the type of plastic they are made out of. But to buy a brand new set, they're like almost $400, and I just got a quote for $350 to paint mine thru a shop.

they make a paint (krylon fusion I think it's called) I have used it on plastic pattio furniture and it sticks real good, maybe lightly sand as much as you can to rough the plastic up alittle, just my thought.

Cool, I forgot to mention that I did use the search and it seems that the Krylon Fusion will be the paint of choice. Do you guys think I would need a primer base coat after sanding?

Personally, painted plastic really only holds up if your quad is a sand/desert only quad. Paint jobs on woods/trail quads don't last long. Just something to consider...

So I started to prep the plastics, started sanding w/ a 220 grit and washed them with dish soap & water, then wiped them down. Next week, I'm gonna start spraying them

I usually only ride sand anyways, really no wood/trail riding.

Will do!!!!!!!!

ALSO, is there anything else I can wipe them down with to remove anything before I paint. After I paint.....what grit should I wet sand with before I clear???

FYI: Im also looking for some powder coated black rims, or other black rims.

You can find the Yamaha blue from PJ1. However, in order to achieve the actual blue color you need 2 different cans of the PJ1...it tells you on the site which ones you need. I think it's the regular blue and then the clear coat lacquer. I used the PJ1 silver frame paint to touch up my 660. It came out really nice. I sold my 660 not long after, so I have no idea how it's holding up...I'll have to ask the guy who bought it because I am curious.

My friend painted his hubs before and he literally baked them in an oven. He told me it lasted. Another friend told me he had to sand the hell out of them because it didn't hold up the first time. Goodluck!

Just clean them really well, hit them with a coat of primer, and tape off the studs.
