motocross banshee?

This is a discussion on motocross banshee? within the Yamaha YFZ350 Banshee (1987-Present) forums, part of the Performance /Technical category; are banshees any good for motocross or jumping? do they compare to the 250r and which one is more reliable? :)...

250r is made more better for mx but banshee with upgrades can keep up with if not kick honda ass. all depends on the right setup and rider

250Rs are naturally better at MX because of their smooth powerband, lightweight, size, and better slow-speed handling.
Doesn't mean Banshees are terrible at MX, just means the 250R is a more logical choice.
A -1 swingarm and +2 +1 a-arms will help a Banshee out a lot in MX.
Reliability...I'd have to say the Banshee is known to be a little more reliable, but the 250R isn't bad.

Someone once used the analogy that "making a shee race mx is like confining the Tazmanian devil in a gerbel cage".

I'm not a MXer but I am a Banshee rider and ride with plenty of 250Rs.

To be competitive you will need to mod either one. The only problem with the 250R is that it's harder and harder to find a decent one that isn't beat and doesn't have 20 welds in the frame. People want a lot of money for those so you just need to consider that. If you are planning on becoming competitive at MX that's one thing but if you are a casual MXer that's another.

Remember no pros actually ride 250Rs anyway - they are all aftermarket from frame to suspension to just about everything else.

If you found a killer deal on a Banshee I say take it and mod it to do what you want.

Well thats pretty much the perfect riding for a Banshee. Open fields and road riding are a freakin blast on a Banshee. 80mph is fun
