Default USED (private owner) Blaster purchasing, what do you look for?

Looking to buy a used Blaster....had one previously for a few years and also had 4 or 5 friends all with Blasters as well. We'd occasionally swap just for the of it so I feel I know a decent amount about them.

Just trying to think of some things to look for prior to buying. Thing is, I'm located in PA and if I can get a perspective seller to bring it out my way I can have it looked over by a mechanic/shop that does a lot of work on bikes, dump trucks, tractor trailers, cars/trucks, etc. IF NOT, I'll have to do it myself....I'd probably look over all four wheels (make sure they don't move in and out)....check the filter/airbox out....make sure the engine isn't hot upon my arrival (why would they have it all warmed up/ridden just prior to my arrival, etc.).....test ride...and so on.

I've got two in mind right now....

Seller #1 Asking 1,000 OBO, no TITLE but says it isn't stolen or anything like that. Says nothing has ever been done with the motor or anything but it runs great. FMF pipe/silencer, boyesen reeds, UNI filter, aftermarket bars. Positives: Blaster....1,000 bucks....location/has truck(s)/trailer and willing to bring it out my way. Haven't mentioned it yet, but if I were to call this seller back I'd obviously tell him that it was his choice on whether he wanted to invest the 45-hour to bring it out my way, drive 2 miles past my house and let my mechanic look it over.

---------

Seller #2 Asking 1,200 (1,400/1,200 listing, willing to take 1,200....thinking of offering 1,150 because of title transfer, trip, renting truck/borrowing trailer, etc.) for an '02 Blaster.

New crankshaft/bearings, piston/rings, front fenders mildly shaved....black with black/grey seat.....fmf exhaust/silencer, boyesen (sp?) reeds, K&N filters. Probably a decent 45-hour drive, and I'd have to go out there, look it over myself....still figuring out if I can get a truck/rent a truck or find something with a tow hitch so I can borrow a friends trailer. Positives: TITLE (3rd owner), paperwork/receipts from work done at a reputable Yamaha shop in PA, looks sweet, few aftermarket parts.

--Both look to have Maxxis tires on the rear...

2 strokes are very easy and relatively cheap to work on, there are also TONS of parts available for blasters, i wouldnt worry about the engine, or the bearings, etc. if it starts and rides half assed, it should be fine. what i would look at is the condition of the frame, look for bends or cracks, look for spots with paint removed, see if its rusting etc. try to find a bike in the best condition, the engine can be rebuild easily, bearings can be replaced, just make sure nothing too expensive is damaged, and if you find anything with any aftermarket goodies, thats a bonus.
