2002 Yamaha Blaster, rear disc brake (cable)

Has anyone had there rear disc brake (cable controlled) on a 2002 Blaster
lock up on them? Over the weekend I had to take the rear brake caliper off so it was still ride able, I didn't want to take part the caliper part out in the middle of the desert so I just removed the caliper from the disc. I loosenedup the adjusting on the cable and did not work. I checked parking brake and it was not engaged.Any ideas how to unlock the caliper?

Wow... riding hard huh?

I am not an expert on Blaster brakes, but one thing for sure to do is check the linkage on the caliper and make sure there is not dirt, rocks, etc. stuck in there causing it to clamp up. Also, check the brake lock and make sure it did not get stuck engaged.

i had the same thing happen to me i had to zip tie it to the frame so i could ride.

i think i just explained this somewhere, anyways.....

1. the rear blaster brake is supposed to be self adjusting, so with everyrything connected like it should be go pump the brake pedal like 50 times, it might adjust for you (if you cant get it back on the disk then just do it like that)

2. if that didnt work take apart the caliper and re-grease everything. there is a white gear type thing and adjusters. play around with it until you have a setting that looks like it will work. try that out.

this happened to me, u have to take the three allen screws out on the caliper, then u have to mess with the white dial so it is not touching the cover, it may pop off in which you may have to loosen the cable up to put it back on,if the screws go on real tight then you still have to play with it, the screws should go on easily
