Backfire and studder

well i went ridin yesterday and i was messin around in the woods slidin and goofin around, i had the RPM's up, and not over revved cuz i know how to shift, and suddenly it starts studderin and then backfires, i let off the thorttle and get back on it, and it back fires and quits, we bump start it by pullin it with another quad but it studders and just runs like total shit, backfires and quits again, and it did the same thing this morning, so i dunno.....i think its the plug but the shop is closed today, any1 else have another idea?

How does the spark look on the sparkplug you've currently got? If there's a good spark, then you may have to look elsewhere for the problem. Try filling your fuel tank with fresh gas, check your fuel air vent line, and go from there. Unfortunately there's a huge number of things that could be causing the problem. You could have even blown a base gasket, causing a lean condition which would make the engine run like crap.

Good luck on finding the problem.

Now that we're all getting along now.....

I agree with edge - it sounds like it is running extremely lean - be it carburetor problem or a case sealing problem. Try spraying carb cleaner around all the gaskets and carburetor intake boot to see if it sucks it in and it changes how it runs.

Well TT........ SOMETHING happened.

Know what was funny about when the rod bearing went kablooey on my Warrior? The funny part is that it ran just fine the day before! And the tranny in my truck? Same deal!

SOMETHING happened - it could be anything! You have to do some digging and find out which 'anything' is broken! We're just trying to help. :)

What do u mean blow a gasket out of nowhere. Its gotta happen. If you were riding thats all it takes. I would check your jetting and your airbox and carb boot and from the carb to the engine. My warrior had a tear in the piece from the carb to the engine and it gave it a mid throttle studder.
