unhappy Why are Raptors so slow?

Ive got a KFX 700 V force and its totally stock and I can almost beat 700 Raptors. My kawasaki is pretty heavy so I should be getting beat way worse. I had a 06 Raptor once, got rid of it. I thought it was fast until I got beat by a Polaris outlaw 525. Yamaha needs to get in the game soon or people are gonna get tired of being beat all the time.

the kf700 does had bigger tire which mean less rotations per tires etc which mite make ya a little faster also the kfx 700 being a vtwin mite be a factor also.but more people buy raptors so...... yamaha did get somthing right after all

not trying to feed a troll, which you obviously are buy the whole question... but are you talking about a drag race? or a race where you actually have to turn? cause i know with the body roll that tank you own has, it probably wont keep up with anything yamaha makes once you have to turn the bars.

yes, the v twin is strong, and fast in a straigtline, but a yfz will eat you up, and ive had plenty of raptors keep up or even beat me.

Im talking in a straight line. I admit my KFX turns like a semi but... my Raptor didnt exactly turn on dime either. In a straight line there is no way a YFZ could even dream of catching a KFX. I agree with the post above that maybe because the KFX is a twin is probably why it is so superior in speed and quikness to a Raptor. I think the KFX is the fastest production quad made.

You also have to remember the kfx is belt driven. So all you have to do is hold it wide open. Piece of cake.

Well It isnt as easy as you think. The KFX is wheelie happy so it can be hard to hang on to. Yamaha was always a front runner in the atv market. I just hate to see them take a back seat to a KFX that is 100lbs heavier and 1000 dollars cheaper new. Yamaha needs to revamp the Raptor and make it a competitor again. Then I might buy one.

Knightrider I see you are back to talking smack again(assuming you are the same guy), why I do not know...what I do know is I will easily smoke both your KFX and that junk 525 as I have done many times before...so go back to your kawi or popo site, or have they banned you already.

your nuts man, a yfz with the minor mods will rape your machine, so will a raptor with a slip on, intake and program...

Its funny how you talk about beating me with your modded out machines. Especially since mine is bone stock. Its shamful that you have to dump money into your machines in order to run a stock one. I run the dunes all summer and I can honestly tell you that there is no way a YFZ could ever hope to run a KFX...period. Note that I never said anything untrue about the Raptor. I would like to see it be number one again someday just as bad as eveyone else. Then I'll buy one and come back here and hang with you guys again. Im not here to talk smack. Im just stopping buy to show some support and keep the dream alive for you guys.

if the KFX would kill raptors and yfz's, then everyone would ride one, your an idiot.

and you said you never lied about the raptor? you said "who wants a bike that you need change the plug, oil, and air filter every week to keep it together" that is a lie, and you know it, if your changing your plug, oil and air filter every week, then your a fucking idiot. not htat i ever thought you werent.

and you said your here to support and keep the dream alive? but your title is "why are raptors so slow"? your so full of shit and transparent its pathetic, go beat off on your shitty quad and quit acting like your cool

I know for a fact you're full of shit. I've raced a stock Kawi on my (then) stock Raptor and absolutely ate it alive. You're so full of it, what are you, 12? Find another hobby, troll.

Is this guy full of shit or what?? LOL!!!

I raced a predator 500 vs my stock 700 and he was about 5 full bike-lengths behind up the hill.

I've also raced a KFX700 stock for stock (except paddles) up hill and the kawi had NO chance.

With my 3 mod setup now and a +6 swingarm, i beat pipe + cammed yfz/trx450's and ltr450's without much of a problem, and I think the only thing I lost to that weekend was some drag banshee's that werent on stock cylinders, and a 770 raptor 700.

Load up your pipe buddy, keep smokin that crack.
