2005 raptor 660 wont start (cant find an answer for this one)

hi im new here and after looking for a long time i cant find this happening to anybody eles so i got a 2005 raptor 660 with good bit of work but it wont start so after a weekend of fiddling i think i found the problem the gear in between the starter and the starter gear is digging into the case cover do to a worn out recess the dowl pin that holds the gear just wondering if this has happened to anybody eles and if theres a trick to bump starting it cause everything is free and moving and good spark and wicked compression just wheels turns once and lock (should i try in a higher gear? im trying in first)

Yeah start it in second.

You will probably have to get a new side cover depending on which side is wore out.
