Does it do it when you are riding or just in neutral?

Most likely the stator, check the stator against the specifications in the manual.

Make sure your spark plug boot is tight on the top of the plug..

Have you checked the rev limiter connections? If the parking brake is loose at the handlebars or if the reverse light connection on the case is bad, either one can cause this too.

Assuming your reverse light doesn't come on when it shouldn't: Parking brake switch is on or has failed. Just unplug its wires at the connector. White connector, 2 pins, black and black wires coming in one side, green/yellow stripe and black wires other side... hidden up behind the left headlight near the radiator - unplug and leave it unplugged, you don't need it.
