Default Jetting issues

I just got done jetting my bike. I used the dynojet kit and did exactly as the instructions said, bike has k&N drop in filter and slip on exhaust. I used the 146 in the right carb and 144 in the left put the new needles in with clips in 4th from top position and air screw 3 full turns out and running 93 with a bottle of octane boost. Bike takes a bit to crank using the choke and feathering the gas but runs and idles fine, I let it warm up for a bit but when as soon as I give it gas it kills. Im in Louisiana and below sea level, was the first time I've jetted a bike so all help will be apprecieated!

I live in Florida at sea level. Open air box (cut the lid open and bottom of the box off) with a K&N filter and a slip-on. I just put a Vito's kit in with the needle on the 3rd and did 145 and 150 on the mains. The kit said use 150 and 155 for my set up but it was way to rich. I assume the the dyno and the Vito's uses diffrent numbers... I went half a size down. the kit came with 145, 150, 155, 160, 165. I bumped the pilot jet up one too but I think I'm going to put the stock one back in. I would try 3rd clip and see what that does for you.

Toss out that Octane boost... You're better off running VP red or what ever Sunoco has that's the same. The ethanol in the gas burns to hot and also eats up everything in side the carbs. The lead in the fuel acts as a lube for everything and will keep you from burning up valves... Yes it's more expensive than 93 but how much are you really burning? Add in the cost of the octane boost and your right about the same cost anyhow...

alright so I now have fuel screws out 2 turns and needle in the 3rd position. I choke the bike and it cranks up and idles perfect, I can hit the gas and has a slight stumble but revs up pretty good and pops when you let of the gas. Bike idles like normal with the choke on not high like it used to but as soon as you take the choke off it kills... Really need help!!! Thanks

i'm not sure one this so someone corect me if i'm wrong, but if the choke is on then it gets less air so i think your getting to much air, put your lid on and see if it makes any diff. if it does then you'll need to bump up you jet size

Found out that the float needle was stuck so I took it back apart and cleaned that. Lid was on, but I got it running and able to be rode but as soon as you let off the gas it pops really bad and when you pull in clutch you have to tap the gas or it will die.

well if its poping when you let off the gas that could be valves. when is that last time you check the valve clearance? (i'm guessing it pops when your slowing down not just when you let off?)
when its in neutral does it idle ok or do you still need to tap the gas?

thumbs up

Alright its its poppin on decel, then turn your pilot screws out 1/4 turn at a time. If you reach 3 turns, THEN you go up to #25 and start at about ohh 1 3/4.

lol yeah took a full week to realize i'm not the great mechanic I thought I was so I broke down and took it to a buddy of mine who is head mechanic at the local cycle shop. Turns out my valves were way out of wack and carb just needed a lil more fine tuning. He got my valves adjusted and threw in a larger pilot jet and got it all dialed in and runs great now!
