Default Battery Upgrade?

My battery in my 02 went south on me. I was thinking about trying to replace it with a higher cca battery. Anyone know what other battery will fit? The old one often had trouble cranking since the install of the 11:1.

200 cca is the stock rating.

I have herd of people running a Yuasa HD Grizzly battery. It is rated at 320 cca. I think you have to rebend the battery hold down bracket and maybe make a longer Pos batter cable from the starter relay to the battery. Shouldnt be to tough though.

That is the battery I am going to get when mine goes out.

Deka makes a battery that will fit the raptor 660 with no mods that is 430 cca. I have one in my machine to turn over a 12:1 with no decompression. www.dekabatteries.com Put
etx14 in their search box.

I dont know where your getting your information from but acording to deka's tech sheet the etx14 is rated at 200 cca at 0 deg F. The highest rating powersports battery they have is only 365 and that battery is 6 5/8"long x 5 3/16"wide x 6 7/8 or 7 3/4 Tall there is no way that battery will fit.

Check it out for your self. The spec chart is at the bottom of page 2

No, No, No They are way underated to cover their ass. When I bought this battery at a (battery only) store the counter person said It will crank over harleys with ease, He proceded to test in frt of me and it made 434 cca's. I work at a dealer and have my own tester. A year later it still tested 430 cca's on my OWN tester. Its awesome, I would never steer any one the wrong way. I only buy the good shit!!

What you seen was Cranking amps. CCA stands for Cold Cranking Amps. The standard for the test is to be conducted with the battery at 0 deg F. and cranking for 30 seconds. Any battery is going to test better at a hoter temperature.

By the way the grizzly uses the same battery as the harly so a standard batter would be able to start a harly since that is what they come with.

I run an Odyssey PC535 battery. The company rates it a 535cca for 5 sec but it is only rated at 200 CCA. You can make numbers look big for show but when it comes down to it CCA amps is what matters.

Yeah I know what cca stands for after being an auto technician the last 14 years,Lol . Anyways their tester and my $500 rotunda tester must be faulty? You cant test a battery while your cranking, there are too many variables, like engine size, resistance in cables to starter, and temp like you said. The tester ask if over/under 32 deg and componsate.
