'I was wondering what the process of checking the valve clearence is like. How long does it take, how mechanicly envovled do you need to be. Also what are the specs of the clearence

Not to be a smart ass but there is a huge sticky at the top of this page that answers all of your questions. Also, the service manual is avail for free download here too.
