? about timing marks..flywheel and cam

im finally gettin around to puttin my topend back together..i should have put the motor on topdead center b4 i started the disasemble but i didnt think of it. my question is..which mark on the flywheel is for TDC??ive seen like 2 diffrent marks, but i didnt go all the way around to look for more because i was stumped...i saw one that looked like a I..and it had another mark almost right beside it which was just a straight mark. so i put it on that mark and shined a light down in the sparkplug whole and the piston is all the way up(or so it looked)so does anyone know what EXACTLY the right mark is suposed to look like??and my other question is about the marks on the cam..i see 2 dots..both directly across the gear from eachother...i kno that once the cam is in, the 2 dots should be directly across the top of the head with the motor on TDC. I know it might sound confusing but thats the best i could think to describe it. so please, i need answers from people that have DONE THIS BEFORE...thanks alot, Chris

i think you need to go by the line and not the"I" or "H" mark. I think that the "I" or "H" is used to check your timing with a timing light when the engine is running.

Yeah, it is the single line mark, not the I or H.

The cam has three dots, when at TDC there will be two directly across from each other and another straight up at 12 o'clock. The third (top) dot is covered up by the little metal bracket on the cam bolts though.
