Oil smells like gas?

Why does my oil smell like gas? Second I am leaking oil and dont know why. I am about to change the O-ring on the hose that goes to the bottom of the oil resevoir. If that doesnt fix the leak then what could be, a crack in the resevoir?

The most likley reasons your oil smells like gas is,
1 you are waaaay rich & the gas is washing down the cylinder & getting into the bottom end.
2. your float highth is too high & gas is getting into the cyl flooding it washing it down
3. you crashed your quad & it sat on it's side or upside down & gas flooded the cyl.
4. your rings are shot, check your compression

1 through 3 is an easy fix, 4 is gonna be harder!

The Raptors oil tanks have been known to crack, usually by the drain plug.

1. You are probably right because I just got a slip-on and rode it for a little bit just to see what is like with the slip-on and I have not rejetted yet.
2. Ealborate more(I am new to this stuff)
3. I crashed a long time ago but everything has been fixed.
4. God I hope not.

Sorry for my stupidity on #2.
Oh and THE MOOSE how do you like your sparks exhaust?

Oh and THE MOOSE how do you like your sparks exhaust?
1. if you put on a slipon without rejetting your lean not rich
2. if you've ever had your carbs off & bumped them your floats could be off or if you have some trash in your carb it could cause your carb bowles to over fill.
To check your float highth get a clear piece of plastic tube that'll fit on your carb drain (the one with the screw next to it) open up the drain & hold the tube next to the carb, the gas should come up to just 3mm-4mm below the mating surface.
3. was this the first oil change since the crash?
Has your oil smelled like gas for more than 1 oil change?
4. LOL I hear ya but check your compression to be safe.
how many hours do you have on your engine??

My sparks Rocks!!
Looks & sounds great & gave me a big seat of the pants HP gain!!

This would be the third oil change all together. I wrecked it before the first oil change(actually a friend did but that is another story). All in all my raptor only has about fifty to sixty hours on it.
How do you check the compression? I would like to check that just to be safe.
Oh and MOOSE thanx.

to check compression you will need a compression guage (should be able to find one at any auto-parts store) then remove spark plug and grounde the plug wire install the gauge in place of the spark plug crank it over a few revolutions (hold the start button about 4-5 seconds) read gauge
"standard compression pressure (at sea level) 1,250 kPa (12.5 kg/cm2, 181 psi)

NitrousGuy says: " i am easily twice the size as R4Race, but he rides his rappy so smoothly. when i ride mine, it feels like i am really working the quad physcially, but he looks like he rides it effortlessly. you look at him, and he is a skiny guy on this big raptor, but he is so smooth that you have to do a double take. he is not slow by any means. just smooth. In addition to what R4Race said make sure you hold the throttle wide open when you crank it & if you can hook a batt charger up to the batt to help it crank over faster.
At the very least make sure your batt is fully charged when you crank it to check the compression.
