with the vin number stamped in to your frame!

the 10th digit represents the year. The vin on a warrior is on the frame under the gearshifter.

89 k
90 l
91 m
92 n
93 p
94 r
95 s
96 t
97 v
98 w
99 x
2000 y
01 1
02 2
03 3
04 4
05 5

BTW that is good for all bikes

Im just asking because I dont have the vin by the footpeg, so maybe its an 87?

My 87 warrior had a vin and the 10th gigit was H

87 is definately a "H". If you have no vin on the bike you can really only guess. frame wise 87-89 are different from 1990 and up. I could be wrong but i believe the a-arms are different. Motor wise older 87-89 have a decompression lever on the head.

And the headlight bracket was located farther forward on the 87 88 Also swingarm was 2" longer
