Default Air filter box

Hi
I just got the K&N air filkter for my Raptor 350. the cover (air box lid) of the air filter box do not fit when the K&N filter is installed.
It is necessary to put the lid back?
What are the pros' & cons' of leave it with out the lid?

Please help.

u can alter(trim or cut) the lid to fit or leave it off if the filter clamps onto an adapter. i would recommend a filter skin or outerwear as to keep dirt and water out of the filter. more air will b let in now so you'll most likely have to re-jet to enrich the air-fuel mix. the good news is you'll have more hp as a result and a throatier sound without the lid!

If you have the aluminum adapter setup you don't need the lid unless you ride in deep water.

I'm new here and to the 4-wheeling world. I just bought a very low hour, 2004 Warrior.

Does anybody have a part number(s) for this particular style adaptor/K&N set-up?

Thanks

Sorry if this is a dumb question but, what is the advantage to using the
adaptor and K&N filter opposed to just using the K&N OEM replacement?

Thanks

K&N ref# for warrior filter YA-4350 or 774350 from WPS, i didn't have to modify my air box cover at all.

OEM (stock style) filter DO NOT seal very good.

prodesign make the best kits, IMO
their foam filter kit part number is PD202
their K&N kit is PD203

I wouldn't recommend leaving the air filter box lid off, if you ride in a very dusty and sandy area like i do (Mojave Desert) as sand likes to get in everything. But if you have to use the slip on cover just as an extra measure.

Default Air Filter Suggestions

I just recently got an 87 TRX 250X, not a Yamaha unfortunately but it is a great machine, it's almost ready to ride, all I need is a replacement air filter because the one it's got is in bad shape and to fix the tranny which will be done shortly, any suggestions on a well performing air filter that'll do wonders on a stock quad would be great, preferably as low priced as possible but the highest quality for such a price. Thanks everybody!
