how do you tell what year the engine is ?

the frame has the vin# with the year in it,but for example i broke my frame in 3 spots and had to get a used unbroken frame a couple years back. my engine is suposed to be a 96 ,i figured it was right couse it was the right colored plastics lol.but its now sporting a 93 frame.
i just got another warrior yesterday .add says 2001 guy says he might have been wrong and its problly a 99.frame vin # says 2001 engine only has serial number just like my other 1 so is there a way to find out by the serial # what year the engine is ?comes in handy when buying parts
that being said both were used and have hand writen bills of sale.

The engine number can tell you what year it is

you can use the eletrial plugs to narrow the year, that's the real only change in the motors though the yrs. The rest will intercange. Check your stator wires and compair them to the different yrs on something like www.rmstator.com

no frame and the only numbers on the motor are 3gh00 229cm3 and 1500cm3 can anybody tell me what this motor came off of so i can get parts

The frame number will tell you what year it is, the tenth number reflects the year. You can google yamaha model year by vin or something like that. I know a 98 is a W

My VIN number is unreadable and my motor number is 3DG-082499 is there a way I can find out what year this is, so I can order the correct parts for it? I looked up a carrier bearing on ebay for a 99 warrior, since the last two numbers are 99 and the part looks a lot closer to what I have. does anybody know if my guess is correct?
