numbers on cdi boxes, what they mean.
i have 2 cdis that have a 'z' in the second place of the last four digits. niether of these work on my system. the cdi that did work has 8908. it is a '99, that has had the stator/rotor converted. my harness has the two 'two wire' clips and the r/r three wire. the stator i installed had three 'three wire' clips. as such i eliminated the second p/u coil. the rotor has the short sweeper as opposed to the long one. all of the numbers are the same except the last four:

' ' 8908
i have noticed that the brains on some vehicles are changeable by merely driving. vtr250 would run one way with me, another with my brother. after him being on a minute or so, with him on it, it would be a dog. i quit letting him ride my bike. when i replace the cam chain i will reinstall the proper rotor. if i seem to have lost power, i will swap back. i imagine someone will say that this should not be working this way. but it did, and it worked fairly well. i say fairly, because this is the only warrior i have ridden. another issue is that i have had to clean the terminals and grounds 3 times in 6 months. one of those times, the positive terminal was broken. thanks in advance.

I doubt you will find any information on this. It is one of those mysteries that no one has ever come forth with their findings.
