Does anyone know how pick up coils work?

This is a discussion on Does anyone know how pick up coils work? within the Yamaha YFM350 Raptor/Warrior ('87-Present) forums, part of the Performance /Technical category; I think that there is something messed up with my brand new stator, just wanting to know exactly how the pick up coils work....

A coil of wire (stator) has a current induced into it by the motion of the magnetism in the rotor (flywheel).
