Spark plug will not spark

The spark plug will not spark. I bought a brand new ignition coil and the battery is charged. I have been stuck for 2 months and can not figure out what the problem is. I have 2 used cdi boxes and both of them test good according to the service manual. Any help is appreciated.

an old stator is to blame probably, I had it happen to mine. Had to replace the whole thing. didn't cost too much, thinks it was $90 for memory

Thanks for the replies. I hope that is all that is wrong with mine. I have been dying to get my project finished. MrSlithers please get back to me on what yamaha does to fix the problem. If it is the stator i will order one from Dennis Kirk.
