Default Clutch Adjustment?

I put in a new EBC clutch, and (it didnt before) but the clutch cable does not have enough slack to let the lever go back to the disengage marks. I did accidentally take the lil gear thingy out when I had the cover off but I set it back to where it fell between the marks when it disengaged. I loosened the one on the handle, and the one at the base... Think I should buy a new cable or would it be the same length?. Ive never heard of a cable shrinking but I also dont know what the previous owner did to it.

On a side note this aftermarket sucker is SOOOO hard to pull. I used to just use two fingers when shifting at the action was real light. Now I have to use 4 fingers and almost strain. I dont think I would be able to do mroe than about 4 or 5 drag races and my fingers would be wore out. Its not me though, im no where near being a lil guy.

If you unhook the cable at both ends it moves freely inside the sheathing, right? It isn't pinched or anything??

It moves pretty freely, havent had it unhooked though. You know that lil boot on the end where it hooks to the engine? The cable dosent want to come out much past that, less than 1/4" past that is all you can stretch it at the max.
