2001 Wolverine Mikuni carb vent hose question

Took the Mikuni BST carb off my 2001 Yamaha Wolverine 350 4x4 for cleaning and noticed a short (4-5" long) hose attached to the nipple located just above the nipple the gas line is attached to nothing! I will try and attach a photo. Anyway, the hose attached to the nipple in question goes nowhere or attaches to anything....is this the way it is or does it attach to something? If it does attach to something, I sure would like to know where. Tnx in advance for replies.

I was able to attach a photo and the nipple in question is the top one near the rear barrel of the carb.

I would guess it had a vent hose that run up under the gas tank to the dash at one time.
