ATV,s At N.Carolinas Outer Banks

Has anyone ever gotten a permit to ride a quad on the beach down there.
It would be cool to cruz the beach at night or something. Im asking becouse
we are renting a house in corolla in the summer. If it is leagel, how do you
get a permit. Maybe somone has done this before.

No sense being stupid if

i have a friend who owns a house down in corolla, he looked into this a few years ago, you have to be the owner of the house in order to ride, it may have changed but i doubt it.

wisco 11:1, 696/697 webcam, webcam spring kit w/titanium retainers, sparks X6 exhaust, hinson basket, sparks clutch, , 02' tranny update, port work, lonestar +3 a-arms, elkas, rpm dominator axle, some ims goodies

You are correct Brett, you have to be a resident of the county to ride there. I rode there once last summer, it was o.k, nothing to write home about. Yea it is cool riding on the ocean front but zero dunes, lips, razorbacks or jumps. Just flat and boring. Then when you open up your steed, everyone gets pissed at you. Unless you MUST ride on sand and have ample hauling space , leave the 4 wheeler in the garage.OBX is pretty to vacation/fish at,
but that is where it ends

We have freinds who own the Pony Island Inn on Ocrakoke island and they have told me that as long as my quad is registered and has a plate and spark arestors I am fine and can ride all I want to. This is deffinately something to look into because I would love to take the shee with me this year....

i just spent 4 day out on Ochracoke this summer. Cool place, I Know for a fact you can drive on the beach. I took the truck out there numerous times. ATV's , not sure. I guess chance it. The beach is all flat, the dunes are fenced off , you can ride straight and flat, but i assure you that you will be bored in 15 mins.

Rode their once but it was stritcly at Dodatto's. Speed limit is 25mph and you can wing the permit unless you want to wait about 1 month for the permit. It is all flat and smooth unless you get to the property off of Adams road. Main reason the dunes are fenced off is because of the turtles and its a big fine.
