1986 Moto 4 225 won't stay running
My '86 Moto 4 set up all winter. I had a hard time geting it started. I drained all old gas from tank and put in fresh. Took carb apart and cleaned. Still starts hard and won't stay running. It acts like it's starving for fuel. It will run for 200 yards and then just die. I took carb off again and cleaned again, blew out with air, still same thing. It seems to run better with choke on 1/2, but will still die out after in a minute or so. It pops and runs ragged with the choke out, maybe 2k rpm. Any advice will be appreciated.

Yes, I cleaned the jets and every other hole. Are there and carb adjustments other than idle speed? Now that you mention it, the petcock was frozen up and I broke the handle off, but when I took the fuel hose off the carb the gas seemed to run out pretty good. Anyway, I have a new petcock to put on. Thanks.

OK, I have replaced the petcock. I checked the plug and it's dry as a bone. I disconnected the gas line at the carb and the gas flows nicely out of the tank, but still no start. After it sets for a day, it will start right up and run for about 10 seconds then die and won't start again. I think I have a definite fuel flow problem. The carb floats are not "water logged".

Moto4
I had the same issue with a Moto4 200 I just bought. I installed a complete carb rebuild kit and it runs great now. Good luck

Replace the needle and seat and pay particular attention to getting the pilot jet and passages clear.
